Quick update. I'm drowning in work, so will post more when I can. Just wanted to report that my first visit with a normal OB-GYN (me, normal! hah! can you believe it?!) went just fine. She did a sonogram and I saw the little heart beating. Perfectly lovely. The sprite has grown quite a bit in the last two weeks. You can actually see something more than a blob now. I promise I will figure out how to post the image. Cross my fingers.
The only thing not normal about this pregnancy so far is my "advanced maternal age." I am officially old. This means genetic counseling and tests and such, all of which makes me nervous. I will post much more about this later, but the preview is that we're leaning towards getting an amnio.
And with that, my friends, I am off to pry my eyes open and get some work done. But I can't go without sending out a hearty and happy congratulations to Julia. Welcome to the world Hannah!
Congrats on normalcy! Old, schmold. It's gonna be okay.

A heartbeat is a beautiful thing. Joy!
I won't tell you whether to test or not, but please don't let them force you into testing. It is your decision to make. The docs convinced my cousin at age 34 that she was in the advanced maternal age category and made her a complete basket case with a lot of false positives. The baby is beautiful and normal. Another friend opted for non-invasive testing only at age 37. So, there are choices- make them explain each one to you.
Ok, enough mothering from me for today...
